A member of Davis Polk & Wardwell’s Corporate Department, Mr. Caplan advises corporate and investment banking clients in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate governance issues and related matters.
Mr. Caplan has represented a number of clients, including Aetna, Canadian National Railway, Comcast, Harvard University, Limited Brands, Lockheed Martin, Marsh and McLennan Companies and the New York Mets, in a range of transactions and other matters. He also represents a number of leading investment banking firms in connection with mergers and acquisitions transactions. Mr. Caplan has also chaired an annual mergers and acquisitions program for the New York City Bar Association and participates in other mergers and acquisitions-related panels and groups.
Mr. Caplan joined Davis Polk in 1986 and became a partner in 1994.
He graduated, summa cum laude, from Princeton University in 1983 and in 1986 received his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
He is a member of the board of trustees of Playwrights Horizons, a not-for-profit, off-Broadway theater.
