Thomas Patrick Dore, Jr.


Mr. Dore is the head of Davis Polk & Wardwell’s Real Estate Practice Group. He is experienced in the creation of real estate investment vehicles and acquisitions of commercial real estate properties. Together with his significant experience in cross-border commercial real estate acquisition and development in Spain and South America, he works on real estate joint ventures for the development of hotels, golf courses, and multi-use arena projects. During the past decade, Mr. Dore has had extensive involvement with the creation of a number of significant real estate opportunity funds, as well as the public listing of several real estate investment trust vehicles. Most recently, Mr. Dore represented the Stockbridge Real Estate Fund in the formation of its Fund II Complex and its acquisitions of Hollywood Park racetrack and the Sahara Hotel and Casino. Mr. Dore also represented Altria in its sale of the Kraft International headquarters. He advised the White House on the sale of Governors Island to the Governors Island Preservation and Education Corporation, and the transfer of the Governors Island National Monument area from the National Trust for Historic Preservation to the National Park Service.

Mr. Dore joined Davis Polk in 1983 and became a partner in 1987.

He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1976 and in 1979 received his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School. He attended the Notre Dame London Centre for Legal Studies and Kings College, University of London, from 1977 to 1978, where he was the London editor of the Notre Dame Law Review International Issue.

Mr. Dore worked at the Office of Economic Expansion for the State of Michigan in Brussels, Belgium, in 1978. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association.

He is a member of the Sharon (CT) Historic District Commission (2000- ); New Yorkers for Parks, Board of Directors (2004- ), Executive Committee (2006- ); Loyola School, New York City, Trustee (2006- ).
