Mr. Halbhuber is a member of Davis Polk & Wardwell’s Corporate Department, practicing in the London office. His practice focuses on a broad range of corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions transactions. The M&A transactions he has worked on recently have included advising Morgan Stanley on the acquisition of a Russian bank, an Italian bank and a U.K. financial services firm; Carl Zeiss SMT, a subsidiary of Carl Zeiss, the German optics group, in the structuring of a joint venture with Cymer, a U.S. laser manufacturer; and the acquisition of a U.S. nanotechnology company. In the area of corporate finance, Mr. Halbhuber has advised both issuers and underwriters on debt and equity transactions. Most recently, he worked on several high-yield debt issuances by European issuers. He has also worked on several initial public offerings, including those of Symrise AG, one of the world’s leading manufacturers in the flavors and fragrances market; Bank Austria Creditanstalt AG, Austria’s largest bank; and Basilea, a Swiss pharmaceutical company; privatizations; and rights offerings.

He joined Davis Polk in 2000 and became a partner in 2007.

Mr. Halbhuber graduated from the University of Vienna in 1996 and in 1997 received his LL.M. from Harvard Law School. In 2001, he received his S.J.D. from the University of Vienna. He clerked for the Vienna High Court from 1994 to 1995. He is admitted to the bar of New York. Mr. Halbhuber is a native speaker of German.

Before joining Davis Polk, Mr. Halbhuber worked at Bruckhaus Westrick Heller Löber (now Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer) in Vienna and Frankfurt, from 1997 to 1999.
