Mr. Brunink is an associate in Davis Polk & Wardwell’s Corporate Department and works in the London office. Since joining Davis Polk in 2005, he has advised both corporate clients and financial institutions on capital markets transactions. Representative equity transactions he has worked on have included advising AS Tallink Grupp on its €166 million initial public offering; advising Dufry AG on its CHF 358 million initial public offering; advising the underwriters on the SEK 670 million initial public offering of Biovitrum AB (publ); advising the underwriters on the €2 billion primary offering by Danske Bank to funds its acquisition of Sampo Bank; and advising the underwriter on the $500 million global GDR offering by Diamond Bank Plc. Representative debt matters he has worked on have included advising the underwriters on the $925 million SEC-registered offering of 6.375% perpetual capital securities of AEGON N.V.; advising the underwriters on the $1.5 billion SEC-registered offering of 7.375% perpetual hybrid capital securities of ING Groep N.V.; and advising Fortis Hybrid Financing on its $750 million offering of 8.25% perpetual securities. Mr. Brunink has also been involved in the $98 billion acquisition of ABN AMRO Holding N.V. by the Consortium.
He also advises Dutch and other European clients on corporate governance, reporting and general corporate matters.
Mr. Brunink received his J.D. from Leiden Law Faculty in 1996 and in 1997 received his M.Jur. from Oxford Law Faculty. In 2004, he received his LL.M. from Harvard Law School and in 2005, Mr. Brunink received his MALD from the Fletcher School, Tufts University. Mr. Brunink is admitted to the bars of New York and the Netherlands. He is proficient in German and a native speaker of Dutch. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
Before joining Davis Polk, Mr. Brunink was an associate at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek N.V., from 1998 to 2001.
