Mr. Knight is a member of Davis Polk & Wardwell’s Corporate Department. He has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions transactions for corporate and merchant banking clients.
His recent work includes Scania’s defense of MAN’s hostile offer; Fortis Investment Management’s combination of its fund of hedge fund activities with Cadogan Management; NTL’s combination with Telewest; representing the U.K. Department of Trade & Industry in connection with BNFL’s sale of Westinghouse; Regus plc’s acquisition of HQ Global Workplaces; transactions for Imperial Chemicals Industries (e.g., the sale of ICI’s interests in Huntsman International to CSFB Global Opportunities Partners); and Yahoo’s strategic investment in Sonera zed. He also has worked on numerous other transactions for Shire Pharmaceuticals, VF Corporation, General Electric (including, the purchase of ALSTOM’s gas turbine business, the purchase of certain businesses from Lockheed Martin and the sale of Kidder, Peabody to Paine Webber) and the merchant banking divisions of Morgan Stanley, CSFB and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (including, the acquisition of two divisions of Tyco International).
Mr. Knight joined Davis Polk in 1989 and became a partner in 1997. He practiced in the Paris office from 1992 to 1994 and in the London office from 2000 to 2007.
Mr. Knight graduated from Stanford University in 1981 and received his J.D. and M.B.A. from Columbia University in 1989.
