Mr. Levin is a member of Davis Polk & Wardwell’s Corporate Department. He has broad experience in secured financing, structured products and debt restructuring transactions. In recent years, he has represented JPMorgan Chase Bank, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley Senior Funding and HSBC as arrangers of and administrative agents for acquisition financings and restructurings secured by collateral located in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. He has also represented several corporate clients as borrowers.
In the area of derivatives, in which he has been working for more than 20 years, he advises both end users and dealers of derivatives on management controls and management and board responsibilities, information walls, documentation, issues relating to new products and new kinds of counterparties, and problems arising from the bankruptcy or insolvency of counterparties. He has represented clients in connection with numerous credit derivatives matters, as well as the Orange County, Askin funds, CRIIMI MAE and Enron bankruptcies, the Russian, Indonesian and Malaysian debt crises, and the restructurings of Thornburg Mortgage and Long Term Capital Management and other hedge funds.
Mr. Levin joined Davis Polk in 1981 and became a partner in 1989. He practiced in the Paris office from 1984 to 1986.
He graduated from Yale University in 1974 and attended Stanford Law School and New York University School of Law, from which he received his J.D., Order of the Coif, in 1981.
