Mr. Williams is a member of Davis Polk & Wardwell’s Corporate Department. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions and related matters.
Mr. Williams has represented Freeport-McMoRan in its acquisition of Phelps Dodge; Old Lane in its sale to Citigroup; FirstGroup in its acquisition of Laidlaw International; Texas Instruments in its sale of its Sensors & Controls business to Bain Capital; Argosy Gaming in its acquisition by Penn National; FedEx in its acquisition of Kinko’s; and VF Corporation in its acquisition of Nautica. He has also represented private equity and hedge fund clients, such as Old Lane, DLJ Merchant Banking Partners, Metalmark Partners and The Quadrangle Group, on various acquisitions, investments and dispositions.
He joined Davis Polk in 1998 and became a partner in 2006.
Mr. Williams graduated, magna cum laude, from Amherst College in 1995 and in 1998 received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School. He is admitted to the bar of New York.
