Ms. Ryan is a member of Davis Polk & Wardwell’s Trusts and Estates Department. She focuses on multigenerational estate planning for high net worth individuals. She has extensive experience advising individuals and financial institutions in connection with the administration of complex estates and trusts, including in tax planning, tax controversies and addressing the concerns of beneficiaries. She also counsels individuals in connection with a broad range of personal and financial matters, including charitable giving, the creation and operation of private foundations, the disposition of collectibles and various family matters.
Ms. Ryan joined Davis Polk in 1995 and became a partner in 2008. She was counsel from 2002 to 2008.
She graduated from Trinity College in 1983 and in 1986 received her J.D., cum laude, from George Washington University Law School, where she was managing editor of the law review. She is admitted to the bar of New York.
She is a director of the Pelham Education Foundation.
Before joining Davis Polk, Ms. Ryan was an associate at Milbank, Tweed from 1986 to 1995.
