Mr. Mills is a member of Davis Polk & Wardwell’s Mergers and Acquisitions Group. He focuses on all aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including public and private company transactions, private equity, cross-border transactions, joint ventures, strategic minority investments and takeover defensive strategies. He also advises on securities law matters and governance, fiduciary duty and general corporate matters.

Transactions on which he has advised include MCI’s acquisition by Verizon; the Kingdom of Sweden on its sale of Absolut vodka maker, V&S Vin & Sprit; AIG on its acquisition as part of a consortium of Kinder Morgan; Citigroup on its consortium acquisition of Guangdong Development Bank; FirstGroup on its acquisition of Laidlaw International; Alliance Capital Management’s acquisition of Sanford Bernstein; Keebler Foods’ acquisition by Kellogg; EMI’s agreement to combine with AOL Time Warner’s music business; and various transactions for Emerson Electric, Comcast, Roche and ImClone Systems.

Private equity clients he has advised include EQT on various cross-border transactions; Quadrangle on various media and telecom investments; Lindsay Goldberg & Bessemer; and Tailwind Capital.

Mr. Mills joined Davis Polk in 1986 and became a partner in 1993. He graduated in Commerce from the University of Queensland, Australia, in 1980 and in 1982 received his LL.B., with first class honors, also from the University of Queensland. He is admitted to the bar in New York and Australia.

He is a member of the board of directors and executive committee of the Foreign Policy Association; and a trustee of The Cathedral School. He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, American Bar Association and the New York City Bar.
