Mr. Snider is Davis Polk & Wardwell’s General Counsel. He was a litigation partner from 1983 to 2006, serving as the Litigation Department Practice Group co-coordinator from 2000 to 2005. He continues to serve clients of the firm in a variety of matters. Mr. Snider has represented clients in a wide range of professional liability, securities, tax and other complex civil cases. He has represented several major accounting firms in securities and malpractice cases in both federal and state courts and before the SEC. Among many other matters, he has also represented a major pharmaceutical company in a false advertising suit, a food company in multi-jurisdictional litigation arising out of chemical damage to its products, the former CEO of a very large bank in multidistrict litigation arising out of the bank’s closing, a manufacturer of building materials in an arbitration concerning liability for asbestos-related injuries, and both foreign and domestic financial institutions in private and governmental litigation.
Mr. Snider joined Davis Polk in 1977 and became a partner in 1983. He was a resident partner in the Washington, D.C., office until 1994. He graduated, with highest honors, from Rutgers College in 1972 and attended the Hebrew University in Jerusalem from 1970 to 1971. He received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1975. He clerked for the Honorable David Edelstein, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, from 1975 to 1977.
Mr. Snider has served on the executive committee of the board of trustees of the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia and on the Professional Responsibility Committee of the Bar Association of the City of New York. He has co-authored Corporate Privileges and Confidential Information (Law Journal Press 1999) and a chapter on professional liability in Business and Commercial Litigation in Federal Courts for West’s Publishing Company.
