Mr. Balaban is a member of Davis Polk & Wardwell’s Corporate Department, primarily focusing on structured finance and capital markets transactions. He has devoted a substantial portion of his practice to the development of new financial products. He has an extensive and broad-based domestic and international transactional practice involving complex financial structures, including equity derivatives, convertibles, exchangeables, equity- and debt-linked products, asset-backed financings, securitizations and hybrid capital transactions.

He joined Davis Polk in 1993 and became a partner in 2001. Mr. Balaban practiced in our London and Frankfurt offices from October 2001 to January 2005.

Mr. Balaban graduated, summa cum laude, from Queens College, City University of New York in 1990. In 1993 he received his J.D., magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from New York University School of Law.
