Ms. White is counsel in Davis Polk & Wardwell’s Corporate Department. Her practice focuses on advising banks, broker-dealers and other institutions regarding credit risks involved in cross-border derivatives and other complex financial transactions, including the enforceability of rights to close-out, net and liquidate collateral upon a counterparty insolvency. Her practice also includes the structuring and documentation of collateral and other credit risk mitigation arrangements for a broad range of transactions, including fixed income, equity and credit derivatives, prime brokerage and secured financing transactions. Among the matters she has worked on recently are the development of cross-product netting and collateral platforms for financial institution clients.

Ms. White was an associate with Davis Polk from 1981 to 1982 and rejoined the firm in 1986. She assisted in opening the firm’s Tokyo office in 1987 and practiced there until 1992. During her five years in the Tokyo office, she worked on a wide variety of transactions, including project financing and other credit transactions, securities offerings, and mergers and acquisitions. She has worked in the New York office since 1992.

She graduated, with distinction and Phi Beta Kappa, from Swarthmore College in 1977 and in 1981 received her J.D. from Columbia Law School, where she was articles editor for the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law and a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. Ms. White was a research scholar at the Tokyo University Faculty of Law from 1983 to 1985, where she was a Japanese Ministry of Education Fellow, and was a visiting foreign lawyer at Nagashima, Ohno and Tsunematsu from 1985 to 1986.
