William L. Taylor


Mr. Taylor is a member of Davis Polk & Wardwell’s Corporate Department. He represents clients in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and restructurings. He also has extensive experience in U.S. and international securities offerings.

Mr. Taylor’s experience includes a wide variety of U.S. and international mergers and acquisitions transactions, including acquisitions by Comcast of AT&T Broadband, a portion of the cable television operations of Adelphia, a controlling interest in E! Entertainment Television (through a joint venture with Disney); the U.S. cable television operations of Maclean Hunter (through a joint venture with CalPERS) and the cable television operations of E.W. Scripps; the restructurings of Comcast’s interests in Time Warner Entertainment Company and Time Warner Cable; the combination of NTL Incorporated and Telewest; the acquisition by Imperial Chemical Industries of the specialty chemicals businesses of Unilever; the spinoff by C-TEC (now Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises) of RCN and Cable Michigan; and the sale by RCN of $1.65 billion of preferred stock to Vulcan Ventures.

Mr. Taylor joined Davis Polk in 1989 and became a partner in 1995. He practiced in the London office for two years.

Mr. Taylor graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1983 and in 1986 received his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he was a note editor of the Law Journal. He clerked for the Honorable John Minor Wisdom, U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, from 1986 to 1987, and for the Honorable William H. Rehnquist, U.S. Supreme Court, from 1987 to 1988.
